Watershed was proud to receive the External Research Award from the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation for a study titled “Understanding Multi-Residential Load Profiles”. This statistical study of multi-residential buildings was the result of a detailed analysis of monitoring data from a number of multi-residential building meters. Using this data, Watershed developed a new model for energy use and load profiles, particularly for buildings with gas heating and electric cooling.
One of the big discoveries of the study was the idea of “Gas Overhead” which explains why many buildings heated with gas are less efficient on an annual basis than buildings heated with electricity.
